Dear Residents and Visitors:

The Big Bear Valley Recreation and Park District is reaching the end of another

successful fiscal year. Across the board, we have shown an increase in every aspect of our operations. This includes increased participation in our programs and activities; increase in program revenues; increase in facility use; and an increased demand for our recreation facilities.

With the addition of The Ranch Sports Complex, a 14 acre facility in Erwin Lake, the Park District will provide the first public soccer fields in the valley. Improvements to Sugarloaf Park include a skate park, tennis court and basketball court, and new ball field lighting is on the way at both Sugarloaf and Meadow Parks. In addition, the Park District is completing a $347,000 park improvement project which is enhancing parks across the valley.

We are further excited to announce the recent partnership with the Big Bear City CSD which is leading toward the development of a replacement park for Bear City Park scheduled for completion in June, 2010. Check out page 23 to view the latest design concepts.

Finally, I would like to acknowledge the ongoing efforts of Supervisor Dennis Hansberger’s office, the Special Districts Department, the BBVRPD Advisory Commission, and most importantly, our awesome District staff who strive to provide excellent parks and recreation programming on a daily basis.

I encourage you and your family to take advantage of our outstanding summer programs or classes, and be sure and let us know how we are doing.

Sincerely,

Reese Troublefield

District Manager
